A sponsorship is more than a social post. Athletes should consider audience fit, deliverables, compensation, exclusivity, usage rights, and the effect on future opportunities before agreeing to a partnership.
AUTHENTIC FIT COMES FIRST The best athlete partnerships make sense for the athlete, the brand, and the audience. Start with products, services, and causes you genuinely believe in. SET CLEAR EXPECTATIONS Define the posts, appearances, shoots, or events required. Agree on timelines, approval processes, compensation, and how success will be evaluated. PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS Review content usage, exclusivity, contract duration, cancellation provisions, and payment terms. Student-athletes should also confirm that the deal follows applicable school and athletic rules. BUILD A RELATIONSHIP Communicate professionally, deliver on commitments, and evaluate the results together. A strong partnership should create value on both sides and leave the door open for future work.
